Do you know about the Army Resume Builder Migration? Over the past 2 years the Army has been migrating from one automated recruitment tool – Resumix, to a new system called USA Staffing. These systems are both used to advertise vacant positions for civilian personnel, as well as accepting applications from job seekers, and evaluating the job seeker’s eligibility and qualifications.
It is planned that at the end of May 2012, the Army Resume Builder tool Resumix will be retired, and all applications will need to be done through USA Staffing. It’s important to note that your resume will not be transferable between the systems, so if you have a resume on Resumix you will need to create a new one on the USA Staffing application.
It is the advice of CPOL that applicants create a resume on both recruitment tools – Resumix and USA Staffing – once you begin your job search. Once it is on file, you can quickly and easily apply for any jobs from the job announcement. The job vacancy will provide you with guidance on which system the recruiting department is using, and therefore which system you need to use to submit your resume. You should resume up to date with any new skills or experiences you gain, but it is important to remember that when using the Army Resume Builder, only the most recently saved resume will be active.
Status Tracking with the Army Resume Builder
If you have applied for a job using the Army Resume Builder and want to check on the status of your application, its a simple task to check. All you need to do is click on “Go to Answer” and then click on the link entitled “Status Tracking”. You will then be able to see real time information about jobs that you have applied for. If you are using the USAJOBS application, all you need to do is log into the system and click on the “Application Status” link.
Some Important Army Resume Builder Tips
Your resume will not actually be saved to file so it is highly recommended that you keep local copies of your resume in case you need to revert to a previous version, of if you need to tailor it for a particular role. It is also worth remembering that your resume will actually be read and considered by someone in human resources, so you will need to make sure that your resume reads well and looks as professional as possible. If you have a great resume, then hopefully you should be able to get an opportunity to get a promising contractor employment position.
